vintage spools DIY

I hope that I am not the only one that is getting the Christmas jitters!! I am so excited for Christmas this year! Maybe because it gives me a good reason to wrap up some pretty packages!!!

Just the other day while strolling through Anthropologie, I stumbled across some "vintage" spools wrapped with the prettiest velvet ribbon and lace, but I could not get myself to pay $8. And what I mostly wanted was that vintage dark looking spool!!  I of course thought, I could make that!! So.. I did.

Supplies Needed: Stain ( I used Dark Walnut)  Wood spools ( local craft store) and Paper Towels

Step 1: Dip your paper towel into stain and wipe over spool. The more you use, the darker it will be. I did not sand these as they were raw wood. Wipe all over until fully covered. Add another coat to get a darker result.  And that's it!! EASY!!!

Now go grab your prettiest ribbons and lace and wrap away!!
